THE BRIEF
Good decisions.
Better merchandise.

A cap is not a flat canvas. Its front panel, seams and curved shape all affect how a logo is seen. Start with the product, then build a version of the artwork that belongs on it.

This guide takes you through the decisions to include in a custom cap brief, from the smallest lettering to the mix of cap colours in the order.

Give the front panel one clear focal point

Choose what people should recognise first: a symbol, a short wordmark or a badge. Trying to give all three equal prominence can crowd the decoration area. A full back-print design may need a simpler companion mark for the front of a cap.

Do not choose dimensions from a photograph alone. Ask for the available decoration area and review the proposed logo size on the specific cap. A mockup is useful for positioning, while the production review needs to account for the construction and method.

Check the smallest detail at the actual size

Enlarging a design on screen can hide the fact that a strapline will be very small on the finished cap. Review the artwork at the intended dimensions and look at the spaces between letters, fine outlines and tightly packed shapes.

If the design depends on tiny wording, consider a shorter version. Keep the full logo in your original file and clearly identify the simplified version you want reviewed for embroidery. The aim is to retain the identity rather than force every detail into the available space.

Choose the cap and thread colours together

Colour contrast changes the character of the design. A restrained combination can make the embroidery feel subtle; a lighter mark on a dark panel makes it more prominent. Neither is automatically the right choice for every brand.

View the proposed colours as a pair. If the order includes several cap colours, check the artwork against each one. A single thread choice may not give the same result across a mixed batch, and separate colour versions need to be included in the brief.

Keep the quantity and colour split explicit

Write down the total quantity and how many of each cap colour you need. Separate the quantities intended for customers, staff and samples rather than estimating a single total and deciding the split later.

Use the current premium mesh trucker cap product page for the available choices, minimum order and pricing. For a complete-pack purchase, check what is included and supply the requested artwork and colour details.

Send a brief the studio can act on

  • Your original logo file and any simplified version.
  • The cap style and preferred colours.
  • Total quantity and colour split.
  • The intended logo position and approximate dimensions.
  • Whether the effect should be tonal, clearly readable or strongly contrasting.
  • Your required delivery date.

Make any changes before approving the artwork and order specification. If you are unsure whether a detail will translate well, ask the studio to review the cap brief.

Plan a complete cap order

Premium mesh trucker caps start at 10. The complete pack of 10 caps covers the stated standard front embroidery specification. Use the full cap product page for colour quantities, other order sizes and extra embroidery positions.

Confirm the cap colour, thread colours, logo position and quantity split together. Review the full VAT inclusive total before checkout and approve the artwork proof before production. The gallery is a record of example jobs, not a set of designs supplied with your order.
